Thinking Through Graphic Design History

2025

Coming Soon! I wrote and designed a book that surveys the terrain where graphic design practice and history meet. My position is that historical thinking is essential to forging socially engaged, critical practices and that designers learn to think historically, not by memorizing facts about the past, but by developing skills in research and interpretation. I frame graphic design more as a socially contextualized cultural form and a form of labor, rather than the products of autonomous individuals.

This is a sneak peek, as the book will be published next year. Follow the project on Instagram!
